What is a REALTOR®?

A REALTOR® is a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR) and who abides by its Code of Ethics. The REALTOR® Code of Ethics sets forth standards of practice which include treating all parties involved in a real estate transaction honestly.

REALTORS® may be identified by the REALTOR® "R" logo on a business card, website or other marketing and sales materials. Only real estate licensees who are members of a local and state association of REALTORS®, and the National Association, may use the term REALTOR®. The membership consists of commercial and residential brokers and salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and other real estate professionals. Find out why it pays to work with a REALTOR®. Download a free brochure in English and/or Spanish.
