NJAR® PRESENTS REALTOR® AND REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® OF THE YEAR AWARDS
(Atlantic City, NJ) The New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) presented its annual REALTOR® of the Year and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year awards during an awards session at the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention and Trade Expo in Atlantic City today.
The REALTOR® of the Year award was presented to Geraldine Grassi of Prudential Zack Shore Properties in Sea Girt. William Costigan of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Lincroft was named REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year. Winners of the NJAR® award are selected from among the REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year winners of the local REALTOR® boards and associations in New Jersey.
"The REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year awards recognize members who contribute an outstanding amount of time and energy to the industry," said NJAR® President Bill Hanley. "NJAR® is proud to recognize the contributions this year's winners have made to the REALTOR® organization and to their communities."
Grassi was nominated by the Mercer County Association of REALTORS®. She started her real estate career in 1984 and obtained her brokers license in 1987. In 1999, Grassi joined the Mercer County Association of REALTORS®, where she served as president in 2006. Over the years, Grassi has served on a number of committees at the local level including professional standards, education, budget and finance, and special events. At the state level, Grassi is a member of the 2007 NJAR® nominating committee and a trustee of the NJAR® Educational Foundation. She holds the CRS, CRB, ABRM and ASP designations.
In addition to her many real estate-related activities, Grassi is a member of Hillsborough's Rotary Club and the Auxiliary for the University Medical Center of Princeton. She dedicates many hours to volunteer activities and organizes annual events for Prudential Real Estate's Sunshine Kids and Global Volunteer Day.
Costigan was nominated for the REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year award by the Monmouth County Association of REALTORS®, where he served as a member of the bylaws and insurance committees. In each of the past five years Costigan received the NJAR® Circle of Excellence Sales Award®. He recently completed the requirements to earn the CRS designation. In both 2002 and 2003 he was named Agent of the Year by Murphy Realty, which was acquired by Coldwell Banker in 2006.
Costigan received his law degree from Seton Hall University and is a member of the bar in both New Jersey and New York. His career also includes service as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he received the Army Commendation Medal. Costingan holds an MBA from New York University and at the age of 61, completed the American Red Cross lifeguard certification process.
