NJAR® PRESENTS REALTOR® AND REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® OF THE YEAR AWARDS
New Jersey Association of REALTORS® recognizes individuals for their contributions to industry
Atlantic City, N.J. -
The New Jersey Association of REALTORS®
(NJAR®) presented its annual REALTOR® of the
Year and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year
awards during the Triple Play REALTOR®
Convention and Trade Expo in Atlantic City
today.
The REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of
the Year awards recognize members who
contribute an outstanding amount of time and
energy to the industry. This year, Judith
Lewis, CRS, GRI, from Somerset Hills Real
Estate Group in Basking Ridge, was awarded
REALTOR® of the Year, and Tammy Somoracki,
GRI, of Coldwell Banker Joe Connell Realty
in Forked River, was awarded
REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year.
"It's an honor to present these awards to
two very deserving individuals," said NJAR®
President Bonnie Fitzgerald. "Both Judith
and Tammy have been very committed to the
REALTOR® organization and the
industry over the years, participating in a
wide variety of programs and activities, as
well as dedicating time to numerous charity
events."
Lewis is a member of the
Hunterdon/Somerset Association of REALTORS®
(HSAR), where she serves on the board of
directors and will be 2007 president. She
teaches several courses at HSAR and
participates on a number of committees
including community service, education, and
professional standards. Lewis has been
active at NJAR® as a GRI course instructor,
and a member of the board of directors, and
cultural diversity committee.
Since 1998, Lewis has been involved with
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
fund-raisers. She continuously volunteers
for the Special Olympics in Bridgewater;
HSAR Food Drive in Hunterdon and Somerset
Counties; "Birthday Buddies" program at a
local nursing home; Wellness Center in
Somerset County; and collects clothing for
Working Women's Wardrobe.
Somoracki has been a licensed salesperson
since 1982, and a REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® since
1997. She is an active member of the Ocean
County Board of REALTORS® (OCBR), where she
is a member of the education committee and
serves as a substitute instructor, and
speaker for the new member orientation
program. In 2004, Somoracki received her
Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI)
designation.
Somoracki also is a Licensed Practical
Nurse. She has been an active volunteer for
the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the past
12 years, where she has participated in the
Ambassador program and a number of the
society's annual Light the Light
fund-raisers. Somoracki is the founder and
director of Reach for the Rainbow, a
non-profit advocacy group for parents of
pediatric cancer survivors, and has served
as a family advocate for Ocean of Love, a
non-profit organization for children with
cancer.
