NJAR® PRESENTS REALTOR® AND REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® OF THE YEAR AWARDS

New Jersey Association of REALTORS® recognizes individuals for their contributions to industry

Atlantic City, N.J. - The New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) presented its annual REALTOR® of the Year and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year awards during the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention and Trade Expo in Atlantic City today.

The REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year awards recognize members who contribute an outstanding amount of time and energy to the industry. This year, Judith Lewis, CRS, GRI, from Somerset Hills Real Estate Group in Basking Ridge, was awarded REALTOR® of the Year, and Tammy Somoracki, GRI, of Coldwell Banker Joe Connell Realty in Forked River, was awarded REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year.

"It's an honor to present these awards to two very deserving individuals," said NJAR® President Bonnie Fitzgerald. "Both Judith and Tammy have been very committed to the REALTOR® organization and the industry over the years, participating in a wide variety of programs and activities, as well as dedicating time to numerous charity events."

Lewis is a member of the Hunterdon/Somerset Association of REALTORS® (HSAR), where she serves on the board of directors and will be 2007 president. She teaches several courses at HSAR and participates on a number of committees including community service, education, and professional standards. Lewis has been active at NJAR® as a GRI course instructor, and a member of the board of directors, and cultural diversity committee.

Since 1998, Lewis has been involved with Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation fund-raisers. She continuously volunteers for the Special Olympics in Bridgewater; HSAR Food Drive in Hunterdon and Somerset Counties; "Birthday Buddies" program at a local nursing home; Wellness Center in Somerset County; and collects clothing for Working Women's Wardrobe.

Somoracki has been a licensed salesperson since 1982, and a REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® since 1997. She is an active member of the Ocean County Board of REALTORS® (OCBR), where she is a member of the education committee and serves as a substitute instructor, and speaker for the new member orientation program. In 2004, Somoracki received her Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation.

Somoracki also is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She has been an active volunteer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the past 12 years, where she has participated in the Ambassador program and a number of the society's annual Light the Light fund-raisers. Somoracki is the founder and director of Reach for the Rainbow, a non-profit advocacy group for parents of pediatric cancer survivors, and has served as a family advocate for Ocean of Love, a non-profit organization for children with cancer.
