NJAR® NAMES REALTOR® AND REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® OF THE YEAR

(Atlantic City, NJ) During an awards session today at the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo in Atlantic City, the New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) named its annual REALTOR® of the Year and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year. Two NJAR® members were recognized for their contributions to the real estate industry, their commitment to the REALTOR® organization, and their involvement in their local communities.

Glenn Mills, CRB, CRS, GRI, of Weichert, REALTORS® in Forked River, N.J. received the REALTOR® of the Year award. The REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year award went to Valerie Reynolds, GRI, of RE/MAX New Beginnings Realty in Toms River, N.J. Winners of the NJAR® awards are selected from among the REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® of the Year winners of the local REALTOR® boards and associations in New Jersey.

“These prestigious awards are presented to members who go above and beyond in their commitment to the industry and in their dedicated service to clients and the community,” said NJAR® 2009 President Diane Dilzell. “NJAR® is proud to recognize the contributions of these two exemplary professionals.”

Mills was nominated for the award by the Monmouth County Association of REALTORS® (MCAR), in which he currently serves as president. He has fulfilled numerous other leadership positions at the local level since joining the Association in 1987, such as first vice president and director. His involvement at the state level includes serving on numerous committees in various capacities, in such positions as chairman, division officer and as a member. Mills served as 2009 communications and public relations division officer. Other committees he has served on at NJAR® include strategic planning, risk management/license law and legislative. At the national level, Mills serves on the risk management committee, which he has served since 2006.

Active in his community, Mills has held leadership positions with the Beachwood Berkeley Rotary Club and the Berkeley Township Industrial Commission. Mills is a past member of the American Legion. He has also organized fund-raisers for the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society and Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Reynolds obtained her real estate license and joined the Association in 2003. She has since become active in her local board, the Ocean County Board of REALTORS® (OCBR), which is the organization that submitted her nomination. She currently chairs the REALTORS® Community Service Committee for OCBR. In that role she has arranged fund-raisers for groups such as Ocean, Inc., which provides programs, services and counseling for children and families in the community. Among other projects, she has also organized a drive to collect items for Maternal Wings, which aids mothers and young children in obtaining necessary items, such as clothing and baby furniture.

Reynolds also devotes her time to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ocean County (BBBSOC). Currently, and for the past six years, she has served as a big sister for the organization. She is also a member of the BBBSOC board of directors. This past year, Reynolds coordinated an event which helped raise over $5,000 for BBBSOC.

The New Jersey Association of REALTORS®, with approximately 50,000 REALTOR® and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® members, is one of the largest trade organizations in the state. NJAR®'s membership is comprised of real estate professionals who subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics and are members of the national and local REALTOR® organizations. As the leading advocate for the real estate industry and private property rights in New Jersey, NJAR® is committed to protecting the dream of homeownership.
