REALTORS® Recognize November as Designation Awareness Month
Courses available at Triple Play REALTOR® Convention in December
(Edison, NJ) Throughout November, the New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) recognizes REALTOR® Designation Awareness Month, a time to encourage members to "Keep It In the Family" by starting, continuing or completing the courses leading to one of the official NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (NAR)-endorsed designations or certifications available to members of the REALTOR® organization.
"Designation courses offer REALTORS® the opportunity to expand their knowledge of specific niche markets, such as second homes or green trends, or focus on widespread aspects of residential real estate or the industry in general," said 2009 NJAR® President Diane Dilzell, CRS, e-PRO. "In addition to elevating the level of service to clients and customers, earning a professional designation opens doors for REALTORS® to learn a new skill, hone in on existing skills, network with peers, and market themselves in a new light."
NAR has nine affiliated institutes, societies, and councils that offer designation and/or certification courses that cover a variety of topics including brokerage management, property management, working with senior citizens, commercial investment, international property, appraisal, and more. Although other designations exist, only these carry an official NAR endorsement. For a complete list of the NAR family of designations and certifications, visit
www.realtor.org/education.
The latest offering from an NAR affiliate, the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council, is a new Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource Certification Program (SFR). The program includes training on how to manage short-sale, foreclosure, and real-estate owned transactions, and provides resources to help REALTORS® stay current on national and state-specific information on distressed properties.
The new SFR course and several other designation and certification courses will be offered at the 2009 Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, which is sponsored by the New Jersey, New York State and Pennsylvania associations of REALTORS®. Courses that will be offered at the event taking place in December at the Atlantic City Convention Center include:
- Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) elective/SFR course, Short Sales & Foreclosures - What Buyer's Representatives Need to Know;
- Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) International Real Estate for Local Markets course;
