NJAR^® President-Elect Judy Appleby Attends Leadership Summit

(Edison, NJ)- New Jersey Association of REALTORS^® (NJAR^®) President-Elect Judy Appleby, ABR, RSPS, SRES, and NJAR^® Executive Vice President Jarrod C. Grasso, RCE, attended the 2009 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS^® (NAR) Leadership Summit in Chicago, Illinois August 23-25, 2009. The Leadership Summit prepares presidents-elect and executive officers of state and local associations, commercial boards and structures, regional MLSs, and national institutes, societies, and councils for their future leadership roles.

"The Summit provided an outstanding platform to prepare me for the role I will embark upon as president of NJAR^® in 2010," said Appleby. "I gathered insight from the wide range of courses covered and in meeting other REALTOR^® association presidents-elect from around the country."

NAR President-Elect Vicki Cox Golder and other representatives from NAR provided the association leaders and future association leaders with information on integrating national programs and priorities into state and local association activities and on developing objectives for their new leadership role. Various industry leaders presented on topics focusing on technology, leadership, law, association management and other real estate issues.

"The advent of social networking and other online tools has played a role in shaping the industry and keeping many REALTORS^® informed and connected to clients. I look forward to applying those technologies and other tools toward promoting NJAR^® as ‘The Voice for Real Estate in New Jersey.' I also look forward to sharing insight on the New Jersey real estate market as it relates to the economy of this state and the nation," added Appleby.

A REALTOR^® since 1978, Appleby is an active member of NAR, NJAR^®, and the Ocean County Board of REALTORS^® (OCBR). Throughout the years, Appleby has served as a NJAR^® director, division officer, and committee chairperson. A member of the NJAR^® Leadership Team since 2008, Appleby has also served as the chairperson of the legislative committee and was the communications and public relations division officer. Appleby is currently a trustee of the NJAR^® Governmental Research Foundation. Locally, she has served as president of OCBR in 2003 and 2006.
