The New Jersey Property Tax: Issues and Options analyzes New Jersey's property taxes at both the state and local level and makes a comparison to other states. The study also examines options for lessening the burden of property taxes in New Jersey.

The study found that New Jersey property taxes are about 60 percent higher than the nation (percent of gross state product) and that property taxes have been 45-60 percent higher for decades. The study also reports that New Jersey's total taxes (including income, sales, other) are not above the U.S. average.
